Galveston Park Board of Trustees

The Galveston Park Board of Trustees on Tuesday voted unanimously to approve a project cooperation agreement with the Texas General Land Office for Cycle 9 of the Dellanera Renourishment Project.

The General Land Office is providing $450,000 in grant funds for the $600,000 project, with a local match of $150,000 required. The match is being secured through a request from the Galveston Industrial Development Corporation, which was approved last year.

Park Board Executive Director Kelly De Schaun noted that it was not yet determined how many cubic yards of sand would be provided for beach renourishment until after a bid price was secured for material for the project.

The board voted unanimously to approve a subrecipient grant agreement with the Texas General Land Office Coastal Management Program for a public access/safety and planning project at the East End Lagoon.

The GLO will provide funding of $41,250 for the $55,000 project, with the park board to provide a local match of $13,750.

The project includes for the construction of a parking area, as well as removal of marine debris and pilings to provide for use of human-powered watercraft at the lagoon.

The board voted 7-0-1, with John Zendt abstaining, to approve Tourism Development Expenditures.

The board voted 7-0-1, with Will Wright abstaining, to approve a lease agreement with the Galveston Historical Foundation for the Visitor's Center at Ashton Villa.

The board voted 6-0-2, with approve a motion regarding the City of Galveston Arts and Historic Preservation Advisory Board Ordinance.

The board took no action resulting from executive session discussions regarding the termination of agreements with Galveston County at Fort Crocket Park and Pocket Parks 1 and 2.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Trustee Dr. Victor Viser was absent. Agenda
