36th annual Oktoberfest on Galveston Island
Press release with photos by Robert Mihovil
Saturday, October 28, 2017
For 36 years, Oktoberfest has helped usher in Autumn for the island with its traditional German music, drink, and food. Each year there is a twist to increase the level of excitement at the event. It goes without saying that folks who came out this year had the Astros on their minds.
Oktoberfest planners provided a large projection screen in the courtyard of the church grounds so everyone could enjoy the games. Hundreds of people gathered to watch and root the players on. It was great fun listening to the collective cheers of the the crowd and the jubilant voices that pierced the crisp night air with each score. In the background the oom-pah bands played on and people danced in the streets. Another memorable Oktoberfest. Marilyn Haupt
