Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to approve recommendations from the Jefferson County Tourism Committee for allocation of Hotel Occupancy Tax funds for fall 2017, with some changes.

The committee recommended a total of $297,337 in allocations. A total of $365,921 was requested from various organizations.

The commissioners court postponed action regarding an allocation of $130,000 for ongoing marketing efforts at the Ford Park Entertainment Complex. The allocation for Lamar University for the 2018 Southland Conference -  Men and Women’s Tennis tournament was amended to reflect $2,500 as the amount provided, and the amount recommended for award to the Port Neches Chamber of Commerce for Riverfest in 2018 was amended to $14,277 and not $14,277.64.  The Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau received $61,000 for ongoing funding.  For a full list of allocations, view the agenda.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve a letter of agreement with Lamar University for the taping of commissioners court meetings.

The agreement includes a 3 percent increase, with the county to pay the university $12,499 for a period of one year ending August 31, 2018.

The commissioners court tabled action regarding a replat of 28A an 28B of Garden Villas.

The commissioners court voted 4-0-1, with Everette “Bo” Alfred abstaining, to receive and file an amended lease agreement with Al Judice, doing business as Judice’s Restaurant.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve an amended agreement with Tim Richardson as a consulting for the county for his services in seeking BP Deepwater Horizon restoration funding.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $205,864 contract to BDS Constructors, LLC, doing business as MK Constructors, for the fifth phase of the Cheek Community Sewer Improvements Project.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to award a $109,980 contract to SETEX Construction Corporation for repairs to the Ford Park Arena’s first floor due to damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.
