Bayou Vista City Council on Wednesday voted 4-1, with Council Member Tami Inman opposed, to cast the city's five ballots in favor of electing Vaun Henry to the Galveston Central Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Henry had previously served on the Bayou Vista City Council.

Local taxing authorities nominated nine candidates for the five-member board. David Moss, Clay Morrison, Scott Brast, Victor Pierson and Kevin Corcoran, who currently serve on the board, were nominated for re-election, while Henry, Mary Trish Hanks, Roney McCrary and Bruce Clawson were nominated as possible new members. Galveston County Tax Assessor-Collector Cheryl Johnson serves as an ex-officio member. Taxing entities in Galveston County may cast a number of ballots based on their percentage of the overall tax levy of the county.

The city council tabled action regarding a request for a variance at 356 Ling.

The city council voted unanimously to select an option to increase insurance for contents at the City Hall Offices to $60,400, at an annual premium of $567.

The city council voted unanimously to distribute excess funds from the FY2017 Budget.

A total of $40,000 will be placed in the emergency fund, $17,703 will be placed into the capital improvement fund, and $14,940 for road repairs.

The city council tabled action regarding an amendment to the city's Code of Ordinances regarding residential lot restrictions and development standards.

The city council voted unanimously to schedule a single meeting for December 12 for the November and December meeting of the city council.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
