Houston City Council today voted unanimously to approve interlocal agreements with Harris and Fort Bend counties regarding participation in the Enhanced Collaborative Model to Combat Human Trafficking: Enhancement of Established Human Trafficking Task Force Program.

The city, through the Houston Police Department, applied for and received a grant through the program from the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Office of Victims of Crime and Bureau of Justice Assistance.

The city council voted unanimously to confirm the mayor’s appointment of Christopher M. Johnston to the Midtown Management District Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to release certain use restrictions on property at 3201 Allen Parkway and the declaration of use restrictions on property at 800 Rosine Street in connection with the relocation of Stages Repertory Theatre.

Jack Christie cast the lone opposing vote to an item awarding a contract to Bear Services, LP for fuel dispenser repair and automated network systems maintenance services.

The city council took no action on the following three items:

  • Recommendation from Acting Director Department of Public Works & Engineering for approval of final contract amount of $1,577,278.62 and acceptance of work on contract with CES Utilities, Inc. for Fire Hydrant Replacement Project, tagged by Larry Green.
  • Rush Truck Centers of Texas, LP for Cummins replacement parts and repair services for the Fleet Management Department, tagged by Green and Dwight Boykins.
  • Ordinance consenting to the creation of Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 552 and authorizing the District to issue bonds for road facilities within the City of Houston, Texas, referred back to the administration.

All other agenda items were approved unanimously with Dave Martin, Jerry Davis, and David Robinson absent. Agenda

Mayor Sylvester Turner expressed his condolences to the families of those killed in Tuesday’s attack in New York City, as well as encouraged Houstonians to continue supporting the Houston Astros as they try to win Game 7 and their first-ever World Series title. He also announced that Healthcare Marketplace enrollment begins today.

The city council took a group picture to send to each Astros player prior to tonight's Game 7.
