CONNECT TRANSIT ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN DEMAND SERVICE PROVIDER

GALVESTON, Texas – Connect Transit, the transportation division of Gulf Coast Center, has announced a temporary service change for the general demand response transit service as of October 30, 2017. Effective immediately, Connect Transit will be operated by Connect Transit employees and Connect Transit or Gulf Coast Center branded vehicles, and therefore, trip availability may decrease.

Since 2014, Connect Transit was contracted with LeFleur Transportation to provide general demand response transit trips in both Galveston and Brazoria Counties. In September 2017, LeFleur notified Connect Transit that it would be closing its operations. Upon notification, Connect Transit took action to continue the demand response transit service until a permanent solution is determined.

To request a reservation for demand response transit service reservations or for information please call 1-800-266-2320 or 409-945-0820, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Connect Transit staff will take rider information and provide an estimated pick up time. A one-way full fare ticket is $1.50 for the first 10 miles and $0.25 for each additional mile. Riders will be informed the estimated fare when scheduling the ride prior to pick up. All rides are subject to availability.

Concerns may be addressed to James Hollis, Connect Transit Transportation Director, Connect Transit Transportation, 4352 E.F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, TX 77591, by phone, 409-944-4446, or email, jamesh@gulfcoastcenter.org. All Connect Transit information and schedules are available at www.gulfcoastcenter.org.
