Beaumont City Council today voted unanimously to award a $692,853 contract to LD Construction for the Calder Asphalt Resurfacing Project from Arlington Avenue to Phelan Boulevard.

LD was the second lowest bid submitted. The lowest bid, made by Oldcastle Materials Texas, was rejected based on past experience with the company.

The city council voted unanimously to award a $533,713 contract to ALLCO, LLC for the Bigner Road Asphalt Resurfacing Project from Roland Road to East Lucas Drive.

ALLCO was also selected over a lower bid from Oldcastle Materials.

The city council voted unanimously to authorize the city attorney to file a lawsuit against APAC-Texas, Inc./Oldcastle Materials Texas, Inc. regarding compensation to the city for failing roadways resulting from defective asphalt road materials provided for the city's street resurfacing projects.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an agreement with the Drug Enforcement Agency that would allow for federal reimbursement of overtime expenditures.

The city council voted unanimously to grant a franchise for solid waste collection and transportation services to Acadiana Waste Services-TX, LLC.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the purchase of 50 vehicles from Silsbee Ford, in the amount of $2,056,869, for use by various city departments.

The vehicles are to replace various models ranging from 1997 to 2013 that are considered no longer cost effective to operate.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a motion declaring several structures as dangerous structures and ordering their removal within 10 days. There were a total of 50 properties under consideration.

The motion to place properties listed under items 7, 9, 11, 15, 20, 25, 38, 39, 41, 43, 48 and 49 on the list (properties listed in the agenda), in a work program for rehabilitation. Council Member Gethrel Williams-Wright was not present at the time of the vote.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Robin Mouton was absent. Agenda
