ACC Voters Reject Bond Proposal

Voters in the Alvin Community College district rejected a $48.5 million bond issue in Tuesday’s election.

There were 1,773 votes, or 54 percent, cast against the bond while 1,518, or 46 percent, voted for. Vote totals are unofficial until they are certified by the Board of Regents.

“We are clearly disappointed with the election results,” President Dr. Christal M. Albrecht said. “Despite the outcome, ACC will continue to provide quality education to its students by helping them further their educational goals and finding a career.”

The Board of Regents will certify the vote during their meeting on Thursday, November 16 at 6 p.m. in the Nolan Ryan Center.
