Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Friday's fatal shooting at 7600 Jensen.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 7600 Jensen

Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 7600 Jensen about 10:05 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 10).

The victim, Demonique Johnson, 30, of Houston, was transported to Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer T. Tyler reported:

Two suspects, described only as black males, struggled with Mr. Johnson near the front entrance of the Family Dollar store at the above address.  During the struggle, Johnson was shot multiple times.  Both suspects then fled on foot.

Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 3770 South Gessner

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 3770 South Gessner about 6:20 p.m. last Friday (November 10).  

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide Division Officers D. Crowder and T. Fay reported:  

The victim was at a gas station at the above address when a black or dark blue Chevrolet Cobalt pulled into a nearby parking space.  The victim and the suspect got into an altercation and the suspect shot the victim several times from inside the vehicle.  The victim was transported by Houston Fire Department paramedics to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.  

The suspect is described as wearing a red or orange Astros hoodie and was not the driver of the vehicle in which he fled the scene.

Investigation into Fatal Stabbing at 3011 Tierwester

Houston police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred at 3011 Tierwester about 1:40 a.m. on Saturday (Nov. 11).

The victim, Tyrone Oveal, 35, of Houston, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a reported stabbing at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found the victim and a female witness.  The suspect remains at large.

Investigation into Shooting at 3500 Oxford

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a male that occurred at 3500 Oxford about 10:50 p.m. last Friday (Nov. 10).

The victim, Andre Gonzalez, 16, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital in stable condition.

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers M. Barrow and S. Ragsdale reported:

Gonzalez and another juvenile male were playing basketball at Burrus Park when they were approached by five unidentified Hispanic males.  One suspect, at gunpoint, demanded the juveniles’ property.  One gave his cellphone, while Gonzalez refused.  Both victims then began running in different directions.  The gunman chased one of the victims, Gonzalez, and fired his gun one time, striking Gonzalez in the lower back.  The suspects then fled the scene in a black Toyota Tundra pickup truck.  The other juvenile, 16, was not injured.  

The suspect is described only at being a Hispanic male with a short beard, about six feet tall and having a heavy build.  He was armed with a silver and black handgun.

Investigation into Woman's Death at 2200 Galveston Road

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a woman whose body was found at 2200 Galveston Road about 9:40 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 12).

The victim suffered no obvious signs of trauma.  Her identity and cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Miller and Officer C. Elder reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a report of a person deceased at the above address.  Upon arrival, they met with members of Texas EquuSearch, who were searching the area for a missing person and discovered the victim.  At this time, it is unknown if the deceased is related to the missing person case.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9200 Sandstone

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 9200 Sandstone about 7:15 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 11).

The male driver, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The male passenger, also 30, was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The identities of both males are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer D. Jones reported:

The driver of a black Nissan Altima was fleeing a minor crash involving a white Chevrolet Tahoe at a nearby gas station when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a tree. 

Following the initial minor crash, the driver of the Tahoe pursued the Nissan.  However, further investigation determined the Tahoe’s driver was not involved in the subsequent fatal crash.

The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 9454 Neuens

A man critically injured in a crash at 9454 Neuens about 10:15 p.m. on November 3 has died from his injuries.

The victim, 49, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where on Saturday (November 11), doctors pronounced him dead.  His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division J. Roque and Officer R. Romo reported:

The victim was operating a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he crashed into a house at the above address.  He was transported to the hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.

It is believed alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.  

The investigation is continuing.

Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Crash at 12200 South Sam Houston Parkway West

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred at 12200 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road about 3:40 a.m. on  Sunday (November 12).  

The suspect, Luis Mendez (H/m, 24), is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court. 

A photo of Mendez is not available at this time.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Klementich and Officer J. Hill reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a crash at the above address.  Upon arrival, they found three males inside a silver Hyundai Elantra.  The backseat passenger was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.  The driver, suspect Mendez, and the front seat passenger were transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in unknown conditions. 

Further investigation determined Mendez was intoxicated at the time of the crash and he was subsequently charged in this incident.
