Jefferson County Commissioners Court

Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to cast the county’s 846 ballots in favor of re-electing Allison Nathan Getz to the Jefferson County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Getz serves as the county’s Tax Assessor-Collector. Other members seeking re-election to the five member board are Charles Lankford, Lauren Williams Mason, Eugene Landry and Dr. Louis Reed.

The commissioners court voted to renew a contract with Bob Barker Company for inmate shoes for the county. The renewal is for one year, and is the third year of the contract.

The commissioners court voted to extend a contract with Conmed, Inc. for inmate health care services for the Jefferson County Correctional Facility for a term of 45 days.

The contract’s new expiration date is March 12.

The commissioners court voted to adopt a proclamation declaring November 18 as Texas Adoption Day – “No More Black Trash Bags” to encourage all citizens to be aware of child abuse prevention and intervention efforts.

The commissioners court voted to accept a $3,000 donation from BASF TOTAL Petrochemicals for use at Veterans Memorial Park.

During the meeting, County Judge Jeff Branick discussed his visit to Washington, D.C., asking for support to include in the supplemental appropriations bill funding totaling $750 million for deepening of the Sabine-Neches Waterway. Branick spoke regarding the economic impact of Hurricane Harvey due to lost production and exporting from the county’s oil industry. Listen (19:03)
