La Porte City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Tuesday, November 14, 2017

La Porte City Council on Monday voted unanimously to authorize the Planning Department to issue permits for the use of temporary FEMA trailers, with restrictions for residents affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The city was recently approached by a resident whose home had suffered damage during the storm, and was seeking to put a FEMA trailer on their property during the rebuilding process. The permit is for a limited period, after which it may be renewed as needed.

The city council voted unanimously to provide time for the owner of a previously condemned building at 621 West Main Street to repair the structure and obtain a permit.

The city council had ordered the building condemned in a previous meeting.

The city council voted unanimously to approve an interlocal agreement with Harris County for the construction of drainage improvements across the North P Street right-of-way, intersecting the Harris County Flood Control District Channel.

The city council voted unanimously to award a $1,947,094 contract to Angel Brothers Construction for the Pinebluff Subdivision Improvements Project.

The project includes paving and drainage improvements to include new pavement and curb and gutter drainage as opposed to the current open ditch system. The roads will also be lowered below the neighborhood yards.

The city council took no formal action resulting from executive session discussions regarding the performance review of City Manager Corby Alexander.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
