Pearland City Council on Monday voted 4-3, with Tony Carbone, J. David Little and Woody Owens opposed, to approve, on first reading, an ordinance annexing approximately 895 acres east of County Road 564, south of County Road 92 and west of County Road 48.

The annexation was one of several the city council considered on Monday.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, an ordinance annexing approximately 20 acres north of McHard Road, abutting Clear Creek at the northeast corner of the nearby Country Place subdivision.

The city council voted 6-1, with Owens opposed, to approve, on first reading, an ordinance annexing approximately 338 acres of land located generally north of Southbelt Industrial Drive, west of Almeda School Road, south of Beltway 8 and east of FM 521.

The city council voted 5-2, with Carbone and Derrick Reed opposed, to approve, on first reading, an ordinance annexing approximately 1,004 acres of land generally located northeast of State Highway 35, between Dixie Farm Road and County Road 129.

The city council voted 3-4, with only Derrick Reed, Trent Perez and Keith Ordeneaux voting in favor of approval, to deny the first reading of an ordinance to annex approximately 281 acres located generally south of Magnolia Road, just north of Bailey Road, west of Manvel Road and east of Webber Drive an Deerbrook Court.

The city council voted unanimously to award a $3,607,224 contract to Angel Brothers Enterprise, LTD for the Old Alvin Road Widening Project.

The city council voted unanimously to rename a portion of Brookside Road between Cullen Boulevard and Stone Road to McHard Road.

The city is currently extending McHard Road to provide a continuous east/west alternative thoroughfare to Broadway Street from FM 521 to the Pearland Parkway, once completed. A portion of the project takes place on an existing segment of Brookside Road, which will be renamed McHard as part of the project.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Dr. Cara Campbell to the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Margo Green, Lonzie Helms and Steve Saboe to the Convention and Visitor's Bureau Advisory Board.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Bethany Earl, Ted Mittica and Michael Wilson to the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Board.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Thomas Duncan and Daniel Tunstall to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Todd Iocco to the Gas and Plumbing Code Board of Adjustment.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Tom Pool, Tony Carbone and Tom Reid to the Development Authority of Pearland Board.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Dr. Hugh Patton, Rushi Patel and Reid Wendell to the Pearland Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Goray Mookerjee to the Elecrical Board.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Mark Lewis, Nita Griffin, Jerry Acosta, John Gehring and Gary Shrum to the Zoning Board of Adjustments.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Rubye Jo Knight to the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 2 Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to reappoint Jerry Acosta, Russell Milam, Bob Campbell and Mark Wellman to the Building/Fire Code Board of Adjustments.

All other action items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda
