Harris County Commissioners Court today
to reappoint Jim Robinson to the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Robinson currently serves on the seven-member board, along with Ed Heathcott, Pete Pape, Wanda Adams, Glenn Peters, Al Odom, and Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennet, who serves as an ex-officio director.

The commissioners court, the City of Houston and Houston Independent School District each appoint a member to the board, while other municipalities in the county, other school district in the county, and conservation and reclamation districts in the county each also appoint a member to the board, for six total members.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to negotiate an agreement with R.G. Miller Engineers, Inc., for the design, bidding, and construction phase engineering services for construction of linear detention in the Buffalo Bayou Watershed.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to negotiate an agreement with the City of Houston for additional linear stormwater detention along Buffalo Bayou between State Highway 6 and Beltway 8 in the Buffalo Bayou Watershed.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept intergovernmental transfer funds up to $3,943,802 to be received from the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services in connection with the Texas 1115 Medicaid Waiver Program.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept various donations resulting from the Hurricane Harvey disaster.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reduce adoption fees for dogs and cats over five years of age.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to accept from Andrew Patterson the donation of a photo of Leonel Castillo for the Leonel Castillo Community Center.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to approve the following four resolutions:

  • Congratulating and commending Jennifer L. Wheeler on the occasion of her retirement for 28 years of dedicated service.
  • Recognizing and commending Carol Andrews, MBA, on the occasion of her retirement after 29 years of exemplary service.
  • Proclaiming November 15, 2017 as Harris County Recycle Day.
  • Designating December 1, 2017 as World AIDS Day.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to appoint Melanie Flowers to the Harris County Sheriff's Civil Service Commission.

The commissioners court voted unanimously to reappoint Don J. DeGabrielle to the Harris County Public Defender Board of Directors.

The commissioners court voted 5-0-1, with Steve Radack abstaining, to approve sole source exemptions from the competitive bid requirements for Phonoscope, Inc.

All other agenda items, with minor exceptions, were approved unanimously with all members present. Agenda
