Washington D.C.
Press Release
Tuesday, November 14, 2017

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, November 14, 2017, the House voted again in overwhelming support of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2018 (NDAA FY18). The House first passed NDAA FY18 in July, and the Senate passed the bill in September. To resolve several differences, an appointed group of Representatives and Senators worked in conference to agree on a final bill, which the House voted on today. NDAA passed with a vote of 356 to 70. Congressman Randy Weber (R – Friendswood), released the following statement:

“Congress and the American people have spoken: We support our military whole-heartedly. Our brave servicemen and women protect all that we hold dear. We are forever grateful for their service.

“Our troops will receive a 2.4 percent pay increase – this is the largest pay raise in eight years. We are allocating funding to rebuild our worn-out military – our planes, ships, and troops require these resources for continued improvement, readiness, and innovation. For families of fallen soldiers, support and resources are permanently preserved – we will not let their sacrifice go unnoticed. The passing of NDAA FY18 is Congress keeping our promise to the American people, following our oath to the Constitution, and recognizing the extraordinary work of our armed forces.”
