Nassau Bay City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, November 15, 2017

Nassau Bay City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to cast the city's ballot in favor of electing Mike Sullivan to the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

Harris County cities other than Houston vote to elect a representative on the board, while Houston appoints its own representative. Sullivan is the only nominee on the ballot. Ed Heathcott, who has previously served to represent the other cities in the county, is not seeking re-election.

The city council took no action regarding revokation of a special us permit for Arafat Abdullatif for property at 1910 NASA Parkway due to failure of the applicant to make a timely application for a building permit. The item and an associated public hearing was pulled from the agenda.

The city council voted 5-1, with Jonathan Amdur opposed, to approve writing off uncollectible accounts aged 360 days or older.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Angela Braun to the Planning Commission.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a motion to permanently amend a resolution establishing residential building permit fees to a 40 percent reduction in permit fees for a single-family home, over $25,000 in construction value, an occupied home, with damage filed within six months, and the damage was sudden and caused by fire, flooding, or high winds, and when the cause was not from the criminal activity of the resident or owner of the structure.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Mayor Mark Denman was absent. Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Mossman presided over the meeting. Agenda
