Port Arthur City Council

Port Arthur City Council, in a special meeting on Monday, voted unanimously to accept the resignation of City Manager Brian McDougal, effective November 21.

The motion also included that McDougal would be in paid administrative leave until November 21. Following his departure, Assistant City Manager Jimmie Johnson will serve will serve as city manager until an interim city manager can be appointed.

The item, the only on the special meeting agenda, was requested by Council Member Harold Doucet. McDougal had invoked his right to hold discussion concerning his duties with the city in open session. However, at the meeting, after discussion of correspondence concerning the matter, the city council adjourned to closed session for discussion.
