Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners
by Garrett Bryce
Friday, November 17, 2017

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners, in a special meeting on Thursday, voted unanimously to award a $537,175 contract to Oldcastle Gulf Coast for the Old Highway 90 Widening Project.

The project includes widening of the highway to include a right-hand turn lane from the Interstate 10 feeder road to the intersection of the port's Orange County Terminal overpass entrance in order to relieve congestion of trucks entering the terminal.

The board voted to adopt an order canvassing the results of the November 7 election. The port had placed an $85 million bond referendum on the ballot, seeking voter approval to fund repair and rebuilding of Docks 2, 3 and 4 among other capital projects. The measure passed with 1,638 and 819 against the proposition.

The board voted to cast the port's 59 ballots in favor of electing Jefferson County Tax Assessor-Collector Allison Nathan Getz to the Jefferson County Appraisal District.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
