Seabrook police officers arrest burglary suspect

On Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at approximately 10:40 a.m. the Seabrook Police Department was dispatched to a burglary of a residence call to the 2800 block of Sea Channel in Seabrook, Texas.

According to the homeowner, she saw a suspect in her home via a video security system which was transmitting images to her phone.  Once the suspect entered the home the security system notified her. The homeowner stated that there appeared to be a black or Hispanic male inside her home. The homeowner gave the police dispatcher a clothing description and the suspect’s movements in her home in real time.

Seabrook police officers, Shannon Oubre, Michael Dyer, Fernando Rodriguez and Gary Konvicka arrived at the home and found a Chevrolet sedan running in the driveway.  Two Seabrook officers entered the rear of the property.  The suspect then exited the home and jumped a fence at the front of the home where he was apprehended by two other Seabrook officers.  The officers viewed the homeowner’s video and were able to identify the suspect in custody as the one in the video.

The suspect has been identified as 41-year-old, Roderick Thomas, a black male, from Houston, Texas. Thomas was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, with burglary and theft as Thomas had property in his possession from a second home in the area that had reported items stolen.  The items in his possession were stolen earlier in the day.

The case is under investigation by detectives with the Seabrook Police Department.
