Golf Tournament Raises $1M in Four Years for Greater Houston Workforce
PetrochemWorks™ Golf Tournament Continues Legacy of Success

HOUSTON – The East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA) joined forces with leading petrochemical organizations in the Greater Houston area to host the annual PetrochemWorks™ Golf Tournament, which benefits regional workforce development. The tournament has raised more than $1 million in the last four years.

On October 27, more than 250 golfers and 48 tent sponsors gathered at the Wildcat Golf Club to raise more than $375,000, surpassing the $1 million mark in tournament proceeds in the last four years. For the fourth consecutive year, proceeds of the tournament will be donated to San Jacinto College, Lee College and Houston Community College technical programs and student scholarships. By donating to technical scholarships and technical programs at local colleges, the tournament annually aims to improve regional workforce development, an ongoing initiative in the industry. However after Hurricane Harvey hit our community in August, donations were needed now more than ever to help students get back on their feet as the school year resumed.

For the first time, this year’s event expanded to be co-hosted by East Harris County Manufacturers Association (EHCMA), Association of Chemical Industry of Texas (ACIT), Texas Chemical Council (TCC) and Associated Builders and Contractors of Greater Houston (ABC).

“I am so grateful to see how many EHCMA member companies and industry partners have shown unwavering support for the community, including the students who are studying to be part of the next generation of our industry, during this time” said EHCMA chairman, Bob Bradshaw. “Thank you to all the sponsors and participants for helping to make this years tournament yet another success as we continue making good in both the community and for the future of the industry.”

The tournament was rebranded this year as it expanded to be named after the website, which highlights the benefits of a career in the flourishing petrochemical industry that is expected to grow 30 percent in the next decade. Petrochemical companies are currently filling thousands of positions due to the large number of the workforce retiring. EHCMA always aims to support students and the programs needed to provide them with the necessary skills to thrive in the future.
