PETCO FOUNDATION INVESTS IN LIFESAVING WORK OF BAYOU ANIMAL SERVICES
GRANT OF $500,000 WILL EXTEND EFFORTS TO SAVE MORE ANIMAL LIVES IN DICKINSON, SANTA FE, AND CLEAR LAKE SHORES

DICKINSON – Bayou Animal Services today announced it has been awarded a $500,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support construction of a new animal shelter at its 3120 Deats Road location.

The Petco Foundation grant will provide a capital investment to build a new animal shelter for Bayou Animal Services. In addition to the added kennel space, a new shelter will include: upgraded cat condos, a free roaming cat room, outdoor dog play yards for large dog playgroups, and a larger facility with separation for the intake and medical areas.

“We are incredibly grateful for the generous grant provided by the Petco Foundation. This grant is a recognition of the tremendously hard work put in by the animal control officers at Bayou Animal Services during Hurricane Harvey and every day they come in to work. We can’t thank the Petco Foundation enough for its commitment to Bayou Animal Services and the cities of Dickinson, Santa Fe, and Clear Lake Shores,” said Dickinson City Administrator Ron Morales.

Following Hurricane Harvey, the Petco Foundation committed more than $3.5 million to support recovery and long-term rebuilding efforts in Texas and Louisiana.

“Supporting organizations dedicated to saving animal lives during disasters is just one of the ways the Petco Foundation works to create a lifesaving nation for animals,” said Susanne Kogut, Petco Foundation executive director. “Our goal is to help under-resourced organizations substantially increase the number of lives saved in their communities and we are proud to invest in an organization like Bayou Animal Services who works hard to save animal lives
during times of disaster and every day.”

Bayou Animal Services is a non-profit local government corporation formed in 2016 to provide animal control and sheltering services for its originating cities of Clear Lake Shores, Dickinson and Santa Fe. Since its founding, Bayou Animal Services has facilitated the adoption of over 1200 animals.
