State Senator Sylvia Garcia Receives Extraordinary Support for Bid for Congress

HOUSTON - State Senator Sylvia R. Garcia announced last Tuesday morning that she’s running for Congress in Texas Congressional District 29. The incumbent Gene Green is not seeking reelection.

Within a week of announcing her run for office, Senator Garcia has received broad support and encouragement from constituents, community leaders, neighbors and colleagues from across the district excited for her Congressional candidacy. The outpouring of support has been incredible.

“My campaign and I have hit the ground running and I’m more than thankful for everyone who has joined Team Garcia in the last week. With this kind of momentum, it’s clear that we all have one vision in mind - we must elect someone with experience ready to stand up against Trump and to fight for the people of CD29. I am not only a vote, but a leading voice in issues that matter most to our community. Advocating for a quality education for our children and healthcare for all, standing up for immigrant rights, defending women’s health, and demanding social and economic justice isn’t just what I believe in, but what I’ve tirelessly done for our communities day in and day out. A sincere and warm thank you to everyone who has endorsed me so far. I’m excited for the months ahead of us,” said Senator Garcia.
