The Hitchcock City Commission on Monday voted unanimously to appoint Dorothy Childress as mayor of the city, replacing Anthony Matranga.

The city commission accepted Matranga's letter of resignation. Matranga reportedly resigned for medial reasons.

Childress was sworn in at the end of the meeting.

The city commission voted to support the appointment of Shannon Lucas to the Harris-County Subsidence District Board of Directors.

The city commission voted to grant a request to change the zoning of approximately 10 acres of property in the 8000 block of FM 2004 from an Agricultural Residential District to a General Industrial District.

The city commission voted to grant a request to change the zoning of approximately 17 acres along the south side of FM 2004 from Agricultural Residential to General Industrial.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
