Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal traffic accident at 7700 West Bellfort.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7700 West Bellfort

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7700 West Bellfort about 2:50 p.m. on Sunday (Dec. 3).

The identity of the deceased female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Warhol and Officer S. Le reported:

The victim, a pedestrian, walked - not in a crosswalk - across the eastbound lanes at the above address.  She stood in the median and then proceeded to walk across the westbound lanes.  At that time, one vehicle swerved to avoid hitting the female.  However, a second vehicle, a silver Toyota Corolla, was unable to swerve in time and struck the female.  Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.  The female driver of the Toyota was questioned and released without charges.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8000 Southwest Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8000 Southwest Freeway (U.S. Highway 59 South) about 9:45 p.m. last Friday (Dec. 1).

The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Fendia and Officer M. Nicotra reported:

A black Lincoln Navigator was traveling southbound on the freeway at the above address when the vehicle had a mechanical failure that caused it to lose control and spin across several lanes on the freeway.  A motorcyclist, operated by the victim, was traveling behind the Lincoln.  It is believed the victim locked up his brakes to avoid hitting the Lincoln.  At that time, the victim and motorcycle struck the side of the Lincoln.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  The male driver of the Lincoln consented to a mandatory blood draw, and was questioned and released with no charges filed at this time.  The investigation is continuing.

Investigation into Man Found Deceased at 5716 North Freeway

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a man found at 5716 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) service road about 7:10 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 3).

The identity of the victim, believed to be 50 to 60 years of age, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant H. Garcia and Officer K. McDonald reported:

The victim was found unresponsive behind the gas station at the above address.  Paramedics pronounced him deceased on the scene.  There were no visible signs of foul play.  The investigation is pending an autopsy to be conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Though the man was not an employee at the gas station, he was said to occasionally help clean the premises.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
