Annual Christmas Parade road closures

On Saturday night, December 9, at 5:45 p.m. Friendswood Drive (FM 518), between Edgewood Drive (FM 2351) and Stevenson Park will be closed for approximately an hour during the Friendswood Annual Christmas Parade.

Beginning at 5:45 p.m., northbound traffic on Friendswood Drive will be diverted at Whispering Pines. Blackhawk Boulevard is a good alternate route. Also, southbound traffic on Friendswood Drive will be diverted at Edgewood Drive. Sunset Drive is the best alternate route.

Streets intersecting Friendswood Drive between Edgewood Drive and Whispering Pines will have police officers, barricades, and traffic cones to help control traffic.

The parade is expected to last 45 minutes.

Motorists are reminded to use extra caution as there will be a large number of pedestrians, especially children, near the parade route.

“Santa in the Park” will have additional parking within walking distance of Stevenson Park.  Friendswood’s Old City Park is available; enter at Merriewood Drive. It’s a short walk on the concrete path and over the bridge connecting Old City Park and Stevenson Park.  Or, park at Cline Elementary School and walk through Old City Park and across the bridge to Stevenson Park.
