Webster City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to award a $1,960,000 contract to Fused Industries for the Genesis Boulevard Phase 2 Road Project.

The project received five bids, which Fused providing the lowest responsible bid. The item was awarded with an alternate to utilize HDPE gasketed pipe for the storm drainage pipe to reduce costs.

The city council voted unanimously to postpone action regarding adoption of the proposed planned development guidelines for Edgewater Planned Area 14. The item will be considered on January 16.

The city council voted unanimously to approve, on first reading, an ordinance rezoning approximately 3.45 acres of land at 20602 Gulf Freeway from a Second Commercial District to a Third Commercial District.

The change would shift the zoning to a more intensive district. Currently, the property is utilized for a mini-storage complex. The storage buildings have flooded numerous times during the past 5 years. The new zoning district would allow the facility to be rebuilt to current development standards.

The city council took no formal vote, but directed staff to change the compensation objective from the 90th percentile to the 75th percentile of the market. The direction was given following a report on the results of the latest compensation study.

The city council voted unanimously to cast the city's ballot in favor of electing Mike Sullivan to the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to cancel the December 19 city council meeting.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a Chapter 380 Economic Development Agreement with American Furniture Warehouse, as discussed in closed session.
