CCISD High School Students Inducted into National Technical Honor Society

League City, Texas – More than 500 high school students in the Clear Creek Independent School District were honored by the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on Thursday, November 9, 2017. There were 381 first-year members and 139 second-year members from six CCISD high schools recognized during a special induction ceremony.

“The National Technical Honor Society is an organization that allows top Career and Technical Education (CTE) students to be recognized for their success in their various career fields,” explained CTE Director Dana Morgan. “The CTE program prepares students for a wide range of careers such as health care and medical science, business and marketing, hospitality, engineering, logistics, metal manufacturing, construction technology, automotive technology, computer science, digital, video and graphic communications and information technology.”

Clear Creek ISD's CTE program reinforces state and national academic standards by providing students training in career areas of interest to them. The goal is to ensure that students are prepared to succeed in post-secondary education and in a world that is increasingly oriented toward highly skilled jobs.

“Career and Technical Education is a great way for students to prepare for the highly technological and competitive workplace of the 21 Century,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith. “It is through the involvement and teamwork among members of the CCISD family, parents and our business and post-secondary partners that we are able to provide relevant real-world experience coupled with high academic standards which greatly enhance our students' future successes and gain them early entry into the workforce.”

The NTHS was established in 1984 to reward excellence in technical education, encourage students to reach for higher levels of achievement, promote business and industry's critical career-based values and help schools build and maintain effective partnerships with local business and industry.
