Roadway Conditions

As of 5:30am, there were 14 locations on greater Houston roadways that were reporting ice or snow. Driving in Icy Conditions

Residents who are driving vehicles should take steps to protect themselves, including:

  • Give themselves extra stopping distance. Wet conditions means it takes longer for vehicles to come to a complete stop.
  • Ensure windshield wipers are in good working condition before heading out on the road. When conditions are wet or dark, be sure to use headlights.
  • Never use high beams in urban areas. Highway overpasses and bridges pose the highest risk of icing.
  • Take extra precautions when driving over them.
  • Slow down. Rain, sleet and snow can limit visibility, giving drivers less time to recognize danger.
  • Slowing down gives provides extra time to adjust to changing conditions.

School/College Closures

As of 5:30am, the following school districts have announced that they are open and running on normal schedule:

No Colleges or Universities in Houston have reported that they are suspending or changing operations today.

City Services

As of 5:30am, there have been no major impacts to City services reported.  The City of Houston remains open for business on normal schedule.

If an employee cannot make it to work due to inclement weather, they should contact their supervisor for guidance.
