Jefferson County
Port Arthur City Council
by Garrett Bryce
Friday, December 08, 2017

Port Arthur City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to appoint Harvey Robinson as the city's interim city manager.

Brian McDougal, the previous city manager, resigned effective November 21. Assistant City Manager Jimmie Johnson has served as acting city manager since McDougal's departure.

Robinson, who has previously serviced the city as personnel director and as assistant city manager, was to start his position on Wednesday.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Warren Field, Armin Caballero, Brian McZeal, Araina Daniels, Clifford Batiste and Alan Watson to the Construction Board of Adjustments and Appeals. All members were currently serving on the board, but were appointed representing members of the city council under the new configuration of the board.

The city council will be required to appoint three additional members to the nine-member board.

The city council voted unanimously to approve the city's collective bargaining agreement with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 397 for the Port Arthur Fire Department. The agreement includes a 3 percent pay increase effective October 1, and is for a period of one year.

The city council voted unanimously to declare December 26 as an official floating holiday for the city.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. Council Member Osman Swati was absent. Agenda
