Dickinson Citizen Police Academy registration opens
Press Release
Friday, December 08, 2017

Would you like to know what really goes on at the Dickinson Police Department? Would you like to meet the officers and see what they are really like? Do you have questions about what you see and hear that goes on in the community? If your answer is 'yes' to any of these questions, you are a candidate for the next Citizen's Police Academy!

The Citizen Police Academy is a community relations program intended to promote positive interaction between the Dickinson Police Department and the citizens of Dickinson and designed to be informative.  The program's concept is simple: "Better understanding through education."  It is believed that the citizen, upon completing this program, will have a better knowledge and understanding of the Dickinson Police Department: its mission, programs, personnel, and day to day workings.

The course of instruction is presented on Thursdays, 6:30pm to 9:30 p.m., for 15 weeks, beginning February 8, at the Dickinson Police Department. The curriculum includes such things as: Patrol Procedures, Criminal Law, Crime Scene Investigation, Firearms, Narcotics Enforcement, Crime Prevention, Police Communication, Criminal Records Management, and more. The instructors are Dickinson Police Officers and support personnel with expertise in these areas.

Applications for admission into the Citizen Police Academy are available now through January 20th 2018 for the next class. The next CPA Class-28 starts in February of 2018 and ends mid May 2018. So please get on the list for the class. For more information contact Officer Tony Valdez at or at (281) 337-6370.
