Brazoria County
Brazoria County Judge's Office
News Release
Thursday, December 14, 2017

As of December 8, 2017, County Judge Matt Sebesta waived all requirements for elevation certificates in the placement of FEMA temporary housing units in flood zones of unincorporated areas of Brazoria County. This waiver should expedite the placement of the FEMA housing units assigned to Brazoria County residents. FEMA temporary housing is only assigned to residents that are approved for housing through a completed FEMA application process.

FEMA contractors are required to obtain a building permit through the Brazoria County Floodplain Office for placement of a temporary housing unit, at no cost to residents.

The county is working closely with FEMA contractors to ensure prompt placement of the temporary housing units. For any question pertaining to elevation certificates or building permits, residents can contact the Brazoria County Floodplain Office at 979-864-1295.
