Jefferson County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to adopt a resolution opposing the removal of the Brooks Road Overpass at Interstate Highway 10.

The Texas Department of Transportation has advised that there are plans to remove the overpass as part of improvements to IH-10. The resolution states that the removal of the overpass “will cause unnecessary travel times, expense and increase traffic congestion for those who have relied upon access by the overpass.” Resolution

The commissioners court voted to approve specifications for a request for proposals for inmate health care services for the Jefferson County Correctional Facility.

The commissioners court voted to exempt various groups from paying for security during their scheduled events for 2018.

The groups include Dispute Resolution Center, Jefferson County Bar Association, Jefferson County Democratic Party, Jefferson County Republican Party, Jefferson County Libertarian Party, Jefferson County Green Party, Election School, Jefferson County Clerk’s office for meetings and training related to elections, Jefferson County Coalition for Victims of Crime, Family Services, Jefferson County Deputy Constable Association and Jefferson County District Clerk’s office for Passport Day.

Expenses will be paid via budgeted funds.

The commissioners court voted to reappoint Hoyt Simmons and Karl Wadenpful, Jr. to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted to appoint Mark Zambardino to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 1 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted to reappoint Brandon Rose and Terence Simon to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 3 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted to reappoint Roy Morrell to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 3 Board of Commissioners.

The commissioners court voted to reappoint Robert Bordes, Jeff Roebuck and Randy Walston to the Jefferson County Emergency Services District No. 4 Board of Commissioners.

Due to the Christmas and New Year holidays, the next meeting of the commissioners court will be on January 3.
