At approximately 1:30 am, Dickinson PD received a call of a one vehicle accident in the 3100 block of Dickinson Avenue (FM 1266).  Officers arrived and found a 2003 Dodge pickup truck.  The truck had left the roadway, struck a utility pole and ruptured a gas line.  The truck was upside down.  Electrical power in the area is knocked out.  The ruptured gas line is on fire.  Dickinson Fire Department is also on scene.  Police and fire crews are unable to access the inside of the truck due to the fire.  It is unknown at this time if the truck is still occupied.

Dickinson Avenue is closed to traffic at this time until further notice.

Texas New-Mexico Power Company and Centerpoint Energy are on scene also.

Centerpoint Energy has stopped the gas leak and the fire is out at this time.   Texas-New Mexico Power Company has restored power to most of the service area, including Silbernagel Elementary.  Some homes and business may still be without power.  Police are beginning the process of completing the accident investigation and clearing the roadway.    Dickinson Ave. (FM 1266) in the area of 34th Street will remained blocked for several more hours.  Please avoid the area.
