DICKINSON PUBLIC LIBRARY RECEIVES GRANT FROM TEXAS NEW MEXICO POWER. $5000 GRANT WILL ALLOW FOR EXPANSION OF TEEN CODING CLASSES

DICKINSON, Texas – Dickinson Public Library is pleased to announce it has received a $5000 grant from Texas New Mexico Power. These funds will support the expansion of Teen Coding classes at the library by allowing the library to purchase access to a coding database and laptops to accommodate additional teens in the program. The program was previously limited to six individuals and will now expand to a capacity of seventeen thanks to the funding of additional equipment.

“The technology we’ll be purchasing with the grant allows teens in our community a chance to learn coding skills that can be applied in everyday life and in their futures. Providing access to technology at the library is critical especially following the devastation and loss of personal technology within our community during Hurricane Harvey,” said Lindsay Henson, library director.
