Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Provides Tax Saving Information
Ann Harris-Bennett encourages all to pay property taxes by end of year to save money!

Houston – Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett recommends that taxpayers pay their property tax bill by December 31, 2017 to take advantage of applicable federal income tax benefits*. 

“Your tax bill for 2017 is not due until January 31, 2018, however, if you pay by December 31st, you may qualify for a deduction on your 2017 tax returns.” said Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett.

Ms. Bennett added, “I want to encourage property owners to pay their bills as soon as possible before the January 31, 2018 deadline.  Our goal is to make the process as simple and convenient for the property owner as possible.  We want to encourage all taxpayers to save time and pay their property taxes online at”

The Tax Assessor-Collector wants to remind taxpayers that have not received their tax statement in the mail, to visit to see if your account has completed the valuation process by the Harris County Appraisal District.  If the taxpayer account does not display on our website, then the account may not be certified.  If the account is uncertified, the taxpayer can pay last year’s amount or call our office at (713) 274-8000 to get an estimate.   

All taxpayers are responsible for paying their property taxes. If a property owner has questions or has not received their property tax bill, please contact the Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector office by calling (713) 274-8000 or emailing

The Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector’s office Property Tax Division maintains more than 1.6 million tax accounts and collects property taxes for 73 taxing entities including Harris County. The Tax Assessor-Collector’s office collects more than $6 billion in property taxes.
