The Texas City City Commission on Wednesday voted unanimously to order a general election for May 5 for the election of the city commission.

Mayor Matthew Doyle and each of the six commissioner seats, which includes four district positions and two at-large seats.

The city commission voted to approve an election services contract with Galveston County for the May 5 election.

The city commission voted appoint Morris “Mo” Wisdom to the Bayou Golf Course Advisory Board.

The city commission voted to terminate a contract with McLemore Building Maintenance for janitorial services.

McLemore had been awarded the contract in December. The company then proposed a $43,000 change-order to their original proposal to include a “working supervisor.” The change order was rejected and the city is terminating the contract.

The city commission voted to award a contract to C&S Janitorial Services for janitorial services, in the amount of $90,000.

The city commission voted amend the city's FY2018 Budget to create an additional dispatcher position at the police department. The annual salary of the position will be between $37,981 and $54,725.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with Doyle absent. Mayor Pro Tem Phil Roberts presided over the meeting. Agenda
