Thursday, January 04, 2018

Kemah City Council on Wednesday voted unanimously to authorize the mayor to negotiate salary and benefits, within the budget, with Chris Reed to serve as the city's full-time chief of police.

Mayor Carl Joiner had recommended Reed, who has previously served as city administrator at Nassau Bay and city manager and police chief in League City. Reed will serve without a contract.

The city council voted to award a sponsorship for fishing tournament events through the Elite Series for expenditures from $25,000 to $35,000.

The city council voted to grant a hotel occupancy tax fund application for the Blessing of the Fleet event. The event will receive $10,000.

The city council voted to approve, on first reading, an amendment to the city's Code of Ordinances regarding traffic and vehicles.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with council members Wanda Zimmer and Matt Wiggins absent. Agenda
