Port of Beaumont
News Release
Tuesday, January 09, 2018

The Port of Beaumont Board of Commissioners on Monday voted to approve items related to the purchase of approximately 76 acres of land in connection with the lease and development of the property by Allegiant Industrial, LLC.

The board voted unanimously to authorize Port Executive Director/CEO Chris Fisher to execute agreements for the purchase of the approximately 76 acres of land, in tracts and parcels, situated within Jefferson County.

The board voted to execute a letter of intent with Allegiant Industrial, LLC for the lease of the property as well as a development agreement.

The board voted to engage Eli Bell with the law firm of Richards Rodriguez & Skeith to serve as special counsel to the port. The firm will review any environmental issues with the property to be purchased.

The board voted to approve a request by Allegiant Industrial for the issuance of one or more series of revenue bonds.

The items were approved following an executive session. Fisher said that Allegiant would operate the property as an industrial site.

“We take this as a good opportunity for the port to work with a public-private partnership to generate, retain and create jobs in our area,” Fisher said.

No other action items were on the agenda. All items were approved by unanimous vote with all members present. Agenda
