Fort Bend County Commissioners Court today voted unanimously to take action to establish districts within the boundaries of Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District No. 19 for the purpose of electing five directors.

The item proposes creating five districts, each with approximately 400 registered voters. The court plans to call an election for May 5 to elect each of the five directors, as opposed to appointing them.

Commissioner James Patterson noted that no other such board is elected, but appointed.

“This is our first possibly elected Levee Improvement District Board in our county, as far as I know of, in the state,” Patterson said. Listen (5:37)

The court discussed the matter further, including issues with if a district does not receive any candidates seeking election to the board.

The commissioners court voted to approve the Constable Precinct 3 Office's application for participation in the Texas 1033 Military Surplus Property Program and accept the State Plan of Operations between the state and the county.

The commissioners court voted to apply to the National Historical Publications and Records Commission of the National Archives for grant funds, not to exceed $350,000, for the restoration, preservation and digitalization of district court historical records.

The commissioners court voted to approve a change order with Allgood Construction Co., Inc. to increase a contract regarding the Chimney Rock Mobility Bond Project.

The change order increases the contract amount by $7,373, bringing the total contract amount to $1,130,862.

The commissioners court voted to approve a transfer in the Information Technology Department to allocate funds for server replacement. The item was approved with amendments to reflect a corrected amount of $107,615 and to revise the date of the form to January 8.

All items were approved. All votes were unanimous with all members present. Agenda
