H-GAC Conducts Second Round of Public Meetings for SH 146 Study

BAYTOWN, Texas – The Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) invites residents, community leaders, business owners, and elected officials to attend a public meeting regarding the transportation improvements proposed in the State Highway 146 (SH 146) Subregional Plan on January 11 at Maranatha Church, 12319 Highway 146, Mont Belvieu, TX 77580 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

SH 146 is a regional corridor that serves as a major north-south thoroughfare, a freight corridor, and a hurricane evacuation route. The area surrounding SH 146 is a rapidly growing part of the greater Houston-Galveston region in terms of population, employment, and freight traffic. To accommodate this growth, the Cities of Baytown and Mont Belvieu, the Texas Department of Transportation, and H-GAC partnered to identify and analyze transportation issues in the study area.

Proposed mobility improvements intended to enhance local circulation, connectivity, and traffic flow will be presented followed by a public input session. English and Spanish speakers will be available to gather input and answer questions.

H-GAC will provide for reasonable accommodations for persons attending H-GAC functions. Requests from persons needing special accommodations should be received by H-GAC staff 24 hours prior to a function. The public meeting will be conducted in English with Spanish translators available. Requests for additional language interpreters or other special communication needs should be made at least two working days prior to a function. Please call 713.993.2471 for assistance.

Comments from the public may also be emailed to or submitted via telephone by calling toll free at 1.855.363.2516 or mailed to Transportation Public Information, Houston-Galveston Area Council, P.O. Box 22777, Houston, TX 77227-2777. For more information about H-GAC’s SH 146 Subregional Study, visit
