Jury Duty Canceled in Response to Severe Inclement Weather
District Clerk Office Employees Encouraged to Stay Home

HOUSTON—In response to today’s inclement weather, Harris County District Clerk Chris Daniel announced that jury duty has been canceled for Tuesday, January 16 and any individual scheduled for jury service may disregard the summons with no further action required on their part.  Daniel indicated that the Harris County District Clerk’s Office would remain open until noon, but recommended that all non-essential District Clerk Office personnel stay home out of consideration for their safety.  About the recommendation, Daniel said, “We take our duties very seriously and stand ready to serve the public, however, we recommend to the public and our employees that they stay home and out of dangerous conditions unless absolutely necessary.”  

Courts will be open on a court-by-court basis at their individual discretion.  Confirmed court closures for Tuesday include the 11th, 133rd, 165th, 174th, 176th, 178th, 180th, 182nd, 184th, 185th, 190th, 209th, 228th, 232nd, 247th, 262nd, 309th, 310th, 311th, 312th, 337th, 338th, 339th  and 351st District Courts; along with the 313th, 314th and 315th Juvenile Courts (with the exception of Detention Court) and CPS Impact Docket.  In the County Courts, County Criminal Courts 2, 8 and 14 are closed and misdemeanor bond dockets are canceled.  All IV-D courts are canceled along with County Civil Court at Law 2; with Courts 1, 3 and 4 as well as the 308th District Court closing at noon.  For additional information regarding court closures, the public may visit
