Galveston County
Village of Tiki Island Board of Aldermen
by Garrett Bryce
Wednesday, January 17, 2018

The Village of Tiki Island Board of Aldermen on Tuesday voted unanimously to adopt a resolution calling for election on May 5 to elect three aldermen.

Tom Fisher, Karen Hearring and Hunter Neblett have terms expiring in May. The positions are elected at-large.

The board tabled a presentation from Scott Packard with the Galveston County Health District regarding the It's Time Texas Community Challenge and seeking a pledge from the mayor and council for participation. The item was tabled as representatives from the health district were unable to attend due to weather.
The board voted unanimously to dismiss enforcement of a substandard structure for a bulkhead located at 115 Tamana. After further examination the bulkhead was determined not to be substandard. The property was between two properties that had bad bulkheads.

The board discussed, but took no action regarding the re-plat of lots 44 and 45, Section 7, more commonly known as 1622 Copra.

All other items were approved by unanimous vote. All members were present. Agenda

During the meeting, the board heard comments from Ray Dell'Osso with Galveston County Fresh Water Supply District No. 6. Dell'Osso stated that the district will be discussing a rate increase at the January 17 meeting.
