May 5 General Election Candidate Filing

Candidate filing began on Wednesday for the May 5 General Election, which includes races for offices in cities and schools in Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston and Harris counties.

The filing period will continue through February 16.

Races include city council positions in the cities of Alvin, Pearland, Sugar Land, Bayou Vista, Friendswood, Galveston, Hitchcock, Jamaica Beach, Kemah, La Marque, Santa Fe, Texas City, Village of Tiki Island, Deer Park, El Lago, La Porte, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Shoreacres, Taylor Lake Village and Webster.

Also on the ballot currently are positions on the Alvin Community College Board of Regents, Galveston College Board of Regents, and the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees. For a specific list of offices, visit the GuidryNews.com Election Page.

Cities and school districts may also order special elections through February 16.

The deadline to register to vote in the election is April 5. Early voting will begin on April 23 and continue through May 1.
