Coast Guard medevacs mariner from 964-foot tanker near Sabine, Texas

HOUSTON - The Coast Guard medevaced a mariner off the 964-foot tanker Corcovado approximately 20 miles south of Sabine, Texas, Monday evening.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a call from the captain of the Corcovado who reported a crewmember was suffering from seizures and in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted the duty flight surgeon, who recommended the medevac.

A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Air Station Houston hoisted the 24-year-old man and transferred him to medical personnel at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he was listed in stable condition.

Weather on scene was reported as 12-mph winds with 2-foot seas.
