Bayou Vista City Council on Tuesday voted unanimously to designate Mayor Daniel Konyha as representative and Mayor Pro Tem James L. Cook, III as alternate to the Houston-Galveston Area Council General Assembly for 2018.

The city council voted unanimously to call a general election for May 5 to elect the mayor and two council positions, as well as special elections to elect an additional council position and a proposal to re-authorize the city's one-quarter of one percent sales tax for road maintenance.

Mayor Daniel Konyha, Place 1 Council Member Bob Althaus and Place 5 Council Member James L. Cook have terms expiring in May. The special election is for Place 2, which is currently held by Tami Inman.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a contract with Galveston County for conducing the May 5 election.

The city council voted unanimously to approve a letter of engagement with Whitley-Penn for accounting services.

The city council voted unanimously to deny a motion to transfer the city's windstorm policy from the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association to the Weston Insurance Company.

The city council tabled action regarding the selection of a nominee to the Galveston County Appraisal District Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to select Shannon Lucas as the city's choice for appointment to the Harris-Galveston Subsidence District Board of Directors.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint Sandra McCormick as the court clerk and administrative assistant for the city.
