Webster City Council on Tuesday voted to approve, on first reading, a resolution authorizing an expenditure of $2.5 million by the Webster Economic Development Corporation to attract a new business enterprise within the Genesis Project.

The second reading of the resolution will be on February 6.

The city council voted 4-3, with Beverly Gaines, Edward Laperye and Martin Graves opposed, to approve, on first reading, adoption of the proposed planned development guidelines for Edgewater Planned Area 14.

The property is generally located 1,300 feet southeast from the south side of the intersection of Water Street and Marina View Street.

The city council voted unanimously to postpone an order of election for May 5 to elect two city council members.

The item will be considered on February 6.

The city council voted unanimously to adopt a resolution declaring March 19-23 and October 15-19 as “Webster Clean-Up Weeks” and to declare Saturday, October 20 as “Webster City Wide Garage Sale Day.”

The city council voted unanimously to approve a contract with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP for the collection of delinquent court fees and fines.

The city council discussed, but took no action regarding specific capital improvement projects that are to be finance with bonds in the future.

The city council voted unanimously to schedule a strategic planning session for April 7 to review, discuss and provide direction on issues surrounding the creation of the city's FY2019 Budget.
