Houston police are investigating several incidents that occurred during the weekend, including Sunday's fatal shooting of a man found at 800 Federal Road.

 
Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 800 Federal Road

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found at 800 Federal Road about 2:10 a.m. on Sunday (January 28).  

The identity of the victim, 31,  is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Homicide DIvision Detectives J. Villareal and W. Huff reported:  

A witness walking to a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 12300 Maxey Road heard a gunshot and then saw taillights from a vehicle that crossed Federal Road and drove into a ditch.  The witness then saw three males running in the direction of the Fleming Food Mart. 

HFD paramedics responded to the scene and found the victim, with an apparent gunshot wound, in the driver's seat of the vehicle.  He was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigation into Shooting at 10127 Jensen Drive

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a robbery suspect at 10127 Jensen Drive about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday (January 28). 

The suspect, 20, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital where doctors stated he is expected to survive his wounds. 

The male shooter, 22, was not injured in the incident. 

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers L. Kauffman and A. Ferrell reported:   

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and were approached by a male who told them a suspect armed with a shotgun tried to rob him.  Fearing for his life, the male, who is a concealed handgun license (CHL) holder, fired at the suspect and struck him several times.  Officers located the suspect and recovered his weapon.  He was then transported by HFD paramedics to the hospital. 

The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with additional information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

 
Investigation into Shooting at 4400 West Airport Boulevard

Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental shooting of a juvenile male at 4000 West Airport Boulevard about 6:50 p.m. on Saturday (January 27). 

The victim, 12, was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. 

HPD Homicide Division Detectives T. Fay and M. Barrow reported: 

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.  HFD paramedics then transported him to the hospital.  Further investigation and statements made by the victim determined he and his cousin were playing with a gun they found in the victim's father's apartment.  The weapon accidentally discharged and the victim was struck. 

At this time, no charges are expected to be filed.

 
Investigation into Shooting at 8400 Elrod 

Houston police are investigating the shooting of a juvenile female at 8400 Elrod about 2:45 a.m. on Saturday (Janaury 27). 

The victim, 16, suffered gunshot wounds to one of her legs and was transported to an area hospital to be treated for her wounds. 

HPD Major Assaults Unit Officers S. Ragsdale and J. Hasley reported: 

The victim told friends she was meeting another friend in the roadway at a residence near the above address.  As she was in the roadway, the victim was shot at least twice.  The suspect then fled the scene southbound on Elrod prior to police arriving on scene. 

The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, driving a white Chrysler 300 with a black grille.

Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8650 North Houston-Rosslyn Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8650 North Houston-Rosslyn Road about 3 a.m. on Saturday (January 27). 

The identity of the male victim, 50, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. 

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Glenn reported: 

The victim was driving a silver Ford Crown Victoria northbound on North Houston-Rosslyn Road when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a light pole and a strip mall center sign.  HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. 

The investigation is continuing.
