Property Tax Bill’s are due tomorrow
News Release
Tuesday, January 30, 2018

7% penalty and interest begin accruing on February 1

Houston - Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Ann Harris Bennett would like to remind property owners that property taxes are due tomorrow,  January 31, 2018.

Property owners can pay their property taxes online at www.hctax.net, by mail, by phone      (713) 274-CARD (2273), or in person at one of the 16 tax office branches located throughout Harris County.

Ms. Bennett urges property owners to ensure their payment is postmarked no later than January 31, 2018, adding that metered mail is not a USPS postmark. Payment may also be sent by courier mail services such as UPS and FedEx.

“I strongly encourage tax payers to utilize online payments for the greatest efficiency and convenience.” said Bennett. “I want all of our customers to be able to settle their accounts quickly, conveniently, and on time,”

On February 1, 2018, 7% penalty and interest will begin accruing on all delinquent bills. Penalty and interest will continue to increase each month until the bill is paid.

Property owners whose property suffered damage due to Hurricane Harvey may be eligible for a Disaster Installment Payment Plan. This payment plan would allow property owners to pay only 25% of the total due by January 31st, and the remainder in 3 additional interest free payments prior to July 31, 2018. Additional information can be found at www.hctax.net,

Any questions property owners have regarding tax statements please call 713-274-8000 or   email tax.office@hctx.net.
