House Fire Claims One Life in Galveston

Galveston, Texas –  At approximately 8:45pm the Galveston Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 4300 block of Q ½. Upon arriving firefighters found the home fully engulfed and quickly worked to put the fire out. Two adults were home at the time of the fire. One adult, male, was found to be deceased. The second victim, female, has been transported to UTMB. At this time, firefighters are unsure of the cause of the fire. The Galveston Fire Marshal’s office is on scene investigating. The Galveston Fire Department will not release the names of the victims until next of kin has been notified.

“This is the type of call that every firefighter fears when the alarm rings,” said Galveston Fire Chief Mike Wisko. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family as they endure this tragic loss.”

For media inquiries please contact the City’s Public Information Officer, Jaree Fortin, at 409-692-6514 to coordinate interviews. This is still considered an active scene and we ask that all media treat it as such.
