May 5 General Election Candidate Filing

The filing period for candidates to place their names on the ballot for elected offices is underway, and several hopefuls have filed to seek re-election or to be a new face among city councils and school boards along the upper Texas Gulf Coast.

In Brazoria County, incumbents have filed for the three seats with terms expiring in May on Alvin's city council.

Adam Arendell, Keith Thompson and Brad Richards have filed for another term in District B, District C, and At-Large Position 1, respectively.

In Pearland, Derrick Reed has filed for another term in Position 2 on the city council, and Adrian Hernandez has filed for Position 4, which is currently held by Keith Ordeneaux.

In Fort Bend County, Mayor Joe Zimmerman is seeking another term in office. No filings have been turned in to date for At-Large Positions 1 and 2.

In Galveston County, Mayor Jim Yarbrough will seek another term in office. Incumbents Amy Bly in District 1, Dr. Craig Brown in District 2, and Carolyn Sunseri in District 6 have filed and have no opponents to date. Incumbent Frank Maceo and challenger David Collins have filed for District 3, while Jason Hardcastle has filed for District 4, which is currently held by Mike Doherty. Jeff Antonelli, Chris Petrowski and John Paul Listowski have filed for District 5, which is currently held by Terrilyn Tarlton-Shannon.

In Bayou Vista, candidates have yet to file for mayor and council positions 1 and 5.

In Clear Lake Shores, incumbent Amanda Fenwick and Roger DeRick have filed for city council. The positions are elected at large, with three terms expiring in May. Those seats are currently held by Fenwick, S. Bud Solmonsson and Bryan Hoerner.

Omar Peck and Mike Foreman have filed to seek the office of mayor in Friendswood, which is currently held by Kevin Holland.

Incumbent Steve Rockey has filed for another term in Position 1 on Friendswood's city council, and has yet to draw any challengers. Trish Hanks and Philip Ratisseau have filed to run for Position 3, which is currently held by Jim Hill.

Hitchcock's appointed Mayor Dorothy Childress has filed to serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which had been held by Anthony Matranga.

Incumbents Randy Stricklind and Mark Cook have filed for District No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, and are unopposed to date.

Kemah has not received filings to date for three positions on the city council.

In La Marque, Bobby Hocking has filed for another term as mayor. Kimberly Jones Yancy has also filed for mayor. Keith Bell and Robert Michetich have filed for re-election to La Marque City Council's District A and District C seats.

Jeff Tambrella will seek another term as mayor of Santa Fe. Jason Tabor has filed as a challenger. Corey Jannett is seeking another term for Place 3 on the Santa Fe City Council. No candidates have filed for Place 2, to date.

In Texas City, Matthew Doyle has filed for another term as mayor. The city has received three candidates for its two at-large city commission positions. Those filings include incumbents Bruce Clawson and Dee Ann Haney. Phil Roberts has also filed for an at-large seat.

Earl Alexander has filed to run for District 1 on the city commission. The position is currently held by Thelma Bowie. Bowie has filed to seek election to District 2, which is held by Roberts.

Incumbents Dorthea Jones and Jami Clark have filed for another term in District 3 and District 4, respectively.

In Harris County, La Porte Mayor Louis Rigby will seek another term, and Chuck Rosa has filed as a challenger. Incumbent Chuck Engelken has filed for another term in his seat in District 2 on the city council. No candidates have filed to date for District 3.

Mayor Michel Bechtel in Morgan's Point has filed for another term and is to date unchallenged. Tim Harris has filed for another term in Position 2 on the city council. Paul Francis has filed for Position 4, which is currently held by Thomas Sheffield.

Mark Denman has filed for another term as mayor of Nassau Bay. Ashley Graves has filed for City Council Position 2, which is currently held by Sandra Mossman. Bryce Klug will seek another term in Position 4, and Matt Prior has filed for Position 6, a seat held by Bob Warters.

David Jennings, currently a Shoreacres city council member, has filed to run for mayor of Shoreacres. Kimberly Sanford is the current mayor. Ricky Bowles has filed for another term on the city council.

In Webster, incumbent council members Jennifer Heidt and Andrea Wilson have filed for re-election to Position 1 and Position 2, respectively.

Filing continues through February 16. Early voting will begin on April 23 and continue through May 1. Election Day is May 5.
