Special Election added to May 5 ballot

There will be a General Election and a newly added Special Election held in Friendswood on May 05, 2018. The General Election on May 05, 2018 will be for Mayor, Council Position No. 1, and Council Position 3. The Special Election on May 05, 2018 will be for the unexpired term of Council Position No. 4.

The need for a Special Election arose when current Council Position No. 4 Councilmember Mike Foreman filed to run for the Mayor position. As of February 02, 2018, Omar Peck has also filed to run for Mayor, Steve Rockey has filed to run for Council Position No. 1, and Trish Hanks and Philip Ratisseau have filed to run for Council Position No. 3.

Councilmember Foreman will remain in the Position No. 4 seat until the May 05, 2018 Election votes are officially canvassed by the City Council at a Council meeting after the election. 

Filing dates for the General Election are Wednesday, January 17 through Friday, February 16, 2018, until 5:00 PM and the Special Election filing dates are February 06 through March 05, 2018 until 5:00 PM.
